Version 0.4.29
Download Palimpsest
Free to download and use, for as long as you like. The paid tools unlock with a licence key, and you can try all of them free for 30 days from Settings.
This is a test version. It isn't registered with Apple or Microsoft yet, so your computer will warn you the first time you open it. That's expected; the steps below show how to get past it.
Mac
macOS 13 or later · Apple chip and Intel
Download for Mac- Double-click the downloaded zip. The Palimpsest app appears beside it.
- Drag Palimpsest into your Applications folder and open it there.
- If your Mac says it couldn't verify Palimpsest, click Done. Then open System Settings › Privacy & Security, and click Open Anyway beside “Palimpsest was blocked”.
Windows
Windows 10 or 11 · 64-bit
Download for Windows- Double-click the downloaded installer.
- If a blue box says “Windows protected your PC”, click More info, then Run anyway.
- Palimpsest installs itself and opens, with a shortcut on your desktop and in the Start menu.
Linux
64-bit PC · AppImage
Download for Linux- Right-click the downloaded file, choose Properties, and allow it to run as a program.
- Double-click it. Nothing is installed: the file is the app.
Notes for Linux, including the one-line fix if it mentions FUSE.

Or use it in your browser
The web version works in any up-to-date browser, on a computer, phone or tablet, and keeps working offline once it's open. Your songs stay in your browser on that device.
Your songs are safe
Nothing to lose
Your songs are plain text files in a folder you choose. Uninstalling Palimpsest never removes them, and any text editor can read them.
To remove Palimpsest: on a Mac, drag it to the Bin; on Windows, use Settings › Apps › Installed apps; on Linux, delete the file.
